Commemorative €2 coin, dedicated to 50 years since Malta's Independence.

Malta was occupied successively until it was integrated by Great Britain into the British Empire for 150 years. Malta would only become independent from the United Kingdom in 1964. The Maltese continue, however, to adopt many British customs, namely driving on the left side and the language which continues to be one of the official languages.
