Commemorative €2 coin, dedicated to the 450th anniversary of Caravaggio's birth.

Michelangelo Merisi "Caravaggio" , was one of the most notable Italian painters, with works in Rome, Naples, Malta and Sicily, between 1593 and 1610. His work had an important influence on the Baroque style, a style of which he was the first major representative. Caravaggio was the name of his family's home village and was chosen as his stage name.
