On October 31, 2000, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) unanimously approved Resolution 1325, reaffirming the promotion of gender equality and women's rights, and in particular their importance for building peace and promoting security, highlighting the relevance of equal participation and full involvement of women in these processes, as well as the need to increase their participation in peace operations and their role in decision-making.
